Should I use a lawyer before i ask for help? Will they investigate for you or how does that work? What can I expect, how can i help, what is needed? I can prove company was paying disability benefits then counted me absent and fired me over it. They admitted to the disability. Any ideas or facts out there?

You file a charge with the EEOC and cross-file with your State's Department of Human Rights. They investigate the charge. If they find "probable cause," and issue you a Right to Sue letter, then you have to find an attorney who will take the next step.

You have to exhaust the administrative agency process first. In the meantime, while the EEOC is investigating, you can start looking for an attorney. However, until the EEOC is finished its investigation and issues the Right to Sue letter, there is basically nothing the attorney can do but wait, and why pay him to wait!
