What is the name of your state? Guam, U.S.A.

Can anyone tell me the Legal Definition of a HOSTILE WORK ENVIRONMENT?

What constitutes a HOSTILE WORK ENVIRONMENT?

Is working in a prison a HOSTILE WORK ENVIRONMENT?

What if you are a new recruit officer in a Prison and by the book, you are supposed to be supervised at all times and this General Order is time and time again being violated by Supervisors and Higher Officials?

By our General Orders, Recruits are not supposed to be handling Facility keys, not to escort inmates alone without supervision, they are not to direct or handle inmates in any way until they are sworn as Corrections Officers, they are there strictly for observation and training. Another thing is that the prison facility in itself has been cited by the U.S.Dept. of Justice on numerous Safety and Health violations, and manning requirements are inadequate.

What if any of the above are violated, Can it be considered that an employee is being placed in a HOSTILE WORK ENVIRONMENT?

None of the above.

Legally, a hostile environment is one in which you are either being sexually harassed or illegally discriminated against. It has nothing whatsoever to do with employer policies being violated (unless they are discrimination or sexual harassment policies), has nothing to do with the attitudes of the people you work for or with (same qualification) and nothing to do with what industry it is.

That legal definition can't be repeated enough. It's a problem because most people think hostile work environment is one filled with tension or people who are rude.
