my employer gave notice 3/1/01 that the vision and dental
care was cancelled. when i call the insurance co they said
the plan was cancelled 11/1/00. so for 5 months my wife and
I had no coverage we thought we had, plus 6 other people.
I confronted them and they said "we are tired of supporting
you people"... then later said oh we just bad managers.
This is what I get after working for this guy for 25 years.
ugh.

The bottom line is that there is no requirement in California for private employers to carry such benefits for employees. If the employer had been taking the insurance premiums from the employees AFTER the policies had been cancelled, then that would be fraud. That itself may also cause the employer to be facing some serious criminal charges as well as having to pay back the premiums to the employees. If you need any further help, do contact me and I will try to assist you.
