depression and work


What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? new jersey

I have been diaignosed with depression by mt psychrist. I was told not to work for 4 months. can my employer make me see the company doctor

If you are claiming the depression is work-related, then you will need to be evaluated by a workers comp doctor if they request it. If you are applying for short or long term disability benefits, then the disability provider may want to have you evaluated by someone other then your personal doctor as well. It's called and Independent Medical Evaluation and it's very common for both workers comp and disability.

If you are not applying for either, then they can't make you go see any doctor, but 4 months is longer then they would be required to hold your job under FMLA.
