MISSISSIPPI I apllied for a QC job at INGALLS SHIPYARD back in April 2015. I am a retired QA SPECIALIST from US NAVY GULF COAST SUPERVISOR OF SHIPBUILDING with over 40 years experience in shipbuilding in all areas of shipbuilding with numerous awards for job performance. I had a good job interview with 3 INGALLS QA SUPTS that knew from before. They didnt offer me a job yet they are still looking for QC INSPECTORS. i reapplied but I believe they purposely will not give an interview. I am a certified welding inspector with american welding society plus previous certifications with the US NAVY in paint coatings inspection, hull/welding inspections, electrical cable way inspections, etc.
I am 69 years old but physically fit and I am working as a contract inspector in LAKE CHARLES, LA on containment areas for nuclear reactors. This involves welding, piping, paint coatings, and non destructive testing oversight as a third party inspector.
It appears to me INGALLS is discriminating against me because of my age yet they cant get QC Inspectors. What recourse do I have if any ?
Does the DEPT OF LABOR get involved in cases like this ?
