What is the name of your state? ohio

although we live in ohio, the company is based in virginia.
my wife is a promoter for an entertainment company, and they insist that the promoters live in the markets they oversee. they will not however pay for an office in those cities, so the promoters have to set up a home office, which is again not paid for except telephone lines.
we have a 3 month old baby, and they are insisting that we put him in daycare, as they do not like to hear him in the background when they call..."unprofessional".
as they are not willing to pay for any kind of professional office set up, do we have to put our child into day care.
other notes... there are no performance issues, and other departments in the same company actively encourage children to be in the place of business in order to retain the personnel.

Do you HAVE to put your child in daycare? No. Does her employer have the right to insist that their employees be able to speak to their clients without the noise of babies and children in the background? Yes. I have to agree with your employer that it presents a considerably less than professional image when a client is trying to talk to their promoter and they hear a baby crying in the background or a small child yelling "mommy, mommy, mommy..."

So..you and your wife either need to make some arrangements for your child you're comfortable with that will ensure she has the kind of work environment her employer is requiring, or your wife is free to refuse and seek other employment.

Different jobs require different working conditions so the fact that children are allowed in other departments where I presume the requirements of the job are different makes sense. It's the same as different styles of dress are appropriate for different types of work. Production employees usually wear bluejeans but the sales team wears suits.
