When hired 15 years ago, job classifications were changed, but we were grandfathered in. Four years ago, without our knowledge, we were placed in a lower range. Now that we know about this, nothing is being done to return us to our original salary range.
Where do we stand?

Basically, only union contracts use "grandfathering." In the union contract there would be a specific clause that will either mention by name the employees being grandfathered or the department of employees. This clause is continuously carried in the contract each time it comes up for renegotiation until either the employees die, quit or the union negotiates it away.

If you are union and your union negotiated "grandfathering" away, then you have a problem with your union -- you should have attended all your union meetings so that you could keep an eye on them. No one looks out for you better than you do yourself.
