What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? Arkansas

My wife was given the option to obtain a flu shot at her place of employment. If she chooses not to for whatever reason she gives, they are requiring her to wear a mask on her mouth from now until March. Is this a from of discrimination?

Based only on what you have stated, it is not a form of illegal discrimination.

Is there some profound and well known and established religious reason she is refusing to take a flu shot?
She is against the thimerosal (otherwise known as mercury) that is in the shot and injected into your body. There is enough research that the flu shot can do harm as well as good and she is choosing to not get it.

There are versions of the flu vaccine without thimerosal.

I'm curious;

what is your wife's occupation?

from the CDC:

http://www.cdc.gov/flu/protect/vaccine/thimerosal.htm

Do the 2013-2014 seasonal flu vaccines contain thimerosal?
The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has approved several formulations of the seasonal flu vaccine, including multi-dose vials and single-dose units. (See Table of Approved Influenza Vaccines for the U.S. 2013–2014 Season.) Since seasonal influenza vaccine is produced in large quantities for annual immunization campaigns, some of the vaccine is produced in multi-dose vials, and contains thimerosal to safeguard against possible contamination of the vial once it is opened.
The single-dose units are made without thimerosal as a preservative because they are intended to be opened and used only once. Additionally, the live-attenuated version of the vaccine (the nasal spray vaccine), is produced in single-dose units and does not contain thimerosal.
so, go to a place that has single use vials or get the nasal spray. Case closed.

so, since her argument not only was extremely weak to start with, it is no longer valid. I surely hope she reconsiders her actions.

If she works in a healthcare setting, then her employer is protecting the patients (and your wife believe it or not!)

The needs of the many, outweigh the needs of one.
