Job Harassment

What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? CT

I have a question about a harassment that I think I should report to HR. Over the past 2 years our Director of Marketing has continued to undermine my sales efforts for a new product launch. This person has not made any efforts to visit sales reps. or clinical spec. out in the field, but this person continues to make overtures that they know everything. Finally, on friday I sent an email to the Dir. of Marketing that was a comment or suggestion from a customer about a piece of marketing literature that was offensive to this customer. The Dir. of Marketing sent me a very degrading email, basically saying that customers do not need to send comments & that I did not know how to do my job. FYI- My East Area is doing about 70% of all sales for this new product. I have prepared a letter to the HR department, but I am afraid of what might come of this response to HR.

Over a 2 year period of time I & my sales organization have been dressed down, on numerous occasions by this Dir. of Mktn., saying that we don't know how to sell the product.

Is there any legal action that I need to take?

Thanks,

Start looking for a new job if you don't like this one? That's about all I can think of. Telling you that you're a crappy employee, whether true or not, is not illegal.

Not all harassment is illegal and this certainly isn't one of them. Unless you were harassed becuase of your gender, race, age, religion, etc..... then you need to update your resume and move on.
