Manager told employees about my plastic surgery

What is the name of your state? Arizona

I had plastic surgery about 3 months ago and I confided in an individual who was supposed to be my manager. I told her about it because i would need to make special arrangements dress code etc. She ended up not being my manager and the other day in a meeting with her team (its a huge call center) she told them that me (by name) had "a boob job and lipo". Now people come up to me and ask me about it they also make comments like they don't look that much bigger... it makes me feel uncomfortable. Is there anything I can do about this? I talked to my manager and she escalated it to the original managers boss the um. The um and the manager who said this are friends and i don't think anything will happen. Someone told me she violated the hipaa act.

This has nothing to do with HIPAA and your co-worker did not violate any laws.

Yep. This person got the information from YOU, not your medical records.

HIPAA only applies to medical entities (offices, labs, hospitals, etc) of which you are a patient.

HR was wrong. It was a violation of your confidence. That's it.

Here is a link to a PDF file with some helpful information.
