Obama shirt

What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? Alabama
A co-worker wore an Obama t-shirt right after the innaguration that said,
"Obama our 44th President". She was told by our supervisor not to wear the shirt back again. We work for a large conservative church and there is nothing in the dress code that prohibits wearing this type shirt. We know that many members of the church were totally against Obama being president, but doesn't this stop freedom of speech and expression if you tell a 35 year old woman that she can't wear the shirt. Is it legal? What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)?

Freedom of speech is protected from the government. I see nothing in your post about being threatened with prison or other criminal action.

However, when you work for an employer, they are allowed to set their own dress code... you either adhere to it or quit.
