What is the name of your state? California.
Some people in the retail business. think they can enforce a one-hour mandatory overtime. Is there such a thing? i think its unitelligent bosses trying to squeeze time out of an employee.

Mandatory overtime is legal. However, a non-exempt employee has to be paid at time and a half for all hours worked over 40 in a week, regardless of whether it is mandatory overtime or not.

So if your question is, is mandatory overtime legal, the answer is yes, it is. If your question is, can mandatory overtime be unpaid, or paid only at straight time, the answer is no, it cannot.

What's more, in California overtime is assessed on a daily basis, rather than weekly.
