Recording what i say at work.

Hi. My names Barry, I live in England.

My shift manager asked me about an inncedent that happened at work and recorded what i said without me knowing and played it to the store manager.

What are my rights? Can people record what you say without you knowing and if not what can i do about it?

This site is for US law only.

This is a perfect example of why this is a US only site.

Some states in the US allow a party to the conversation to record the conversation without the other party's consent. Others (Like Massachusetts) do not.

So, If you were in Massachusetts, that would not be legal, and the person who made the recording could be subject to a $10,000 fine.

Except that the expectation of privacy in the work-place is non-existent and that changes the equation
