Sent home

Virginia

I was recently working an assignment in which I was sent home for supposively riding a golf cart on a Fair grounds where a Supervisor stated I shouldn't have been.. I was not made aware of where I could park or ride the golfcart and another co-worker was with me. I was sent home without anyone giving me an explanation of why. The other co-worker was given another chance and got to stay. And now i was written up for driving a golf cart and supervisor thought I was going into a supposed area that was not permitted, but the supervisor said I did not continue to go towards the place supposively not allowed because me and the co-worker supposively saw supervisor and didnt continue. The assignment was for overtime money in which i could have desperately used due to the economic situation that all americans are facing today. Could someone please tell me if i have a case for discrimination since I was not given a reason until written up and the co-worker was able to stay.

Explain just how you believe you were discriminated against.

There is no discrimination.

Make sure you ask your supervisor for instructions on where you are and are not allowed to ride the carts so you don't make this mistake again.

Illegal discrimination does not occur when two employees are treated differently.

Illegal discrimination occurs when two employees are treated differently for a reason protected by law.

Unless you are able to come up with a valid and supportable illegal reason why you were sent home and the other employee was not, then no, you do not have a case for discrimination.

Most discrimination is perfectly legal.

Be grateful you have a job at all. And like it was already said, make sure you clarify things for the future. Overtime may be great, but a job is even better! I would also, personally, apologize for any misunderstandings on my part. But this is just how I would handle this.
