in california. my sister works for large company and has supported a vp for 4 yrs. the guy is very high maintenance and has always asked the impossible of her. her record and reviews have been excellent and she has managed to work through problems. last 8 months have gotten worse, he yells at her, blows up in public, takes it out on her and is mr. nice guy to everyone else (but now people are noticing). she has tried to discuss it but he now says that she is the one who has to change and be there for him. exp: one morning called and wanted her to tell him what he should wear into office. she no longer wants to work for him and has met w/HR to discuss other opportunities in company, she likes company. she went to doctor and psychiatrist about the stress and emotions and she is off work under doctors approval until next week. HR says she has to return to job and fix this. she is a single mother with two small children and needs the income. what are her options? should she return to work under protest and insist that the company find her another position? she has always worked long hours and takes work home to do and is available to him 24/7 w/cell phone & pager.
she is so upset and crys everytime she thinks about going back.
would this be considered work related harassment, abuse, stress? and shouldn't company pay for her time off because of it?
