wrongfully accused

What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? Indiana

This is a long story but I really need help. I work for a big steel company and we are unionized. This started last Thursday when I was escorted to the office by 2 security guards. They told that someone said I made violent threats and asked me if I knew anything about it. I told them that I never made threats but that I have made a few jokes about going crazy at work. They then sent me to the medical offices and they said I checked out fine and could return to work. upon returning the bosses told me to go home for the rest of the day and that they would call me later. i asked if i was fired and they said no. well the next day comes and no call. i tried to call and the didnt answer. i then called my union and was told that the this guy making these accusations had gone back to the office for over 2 hours and said a bunch more lies including that i made a detail plot of how i was going to shoot the bosses and gave them a bunch of names. well know the bosses believe him and wont talk to me. they are telling the union that i am lying and they sent me to the eap and want me to take a pysch test. dont i have rights how can they go on one guys word i have been there for 13 yrs no problems. please help. and i havent worked since thursday and still havent been told if im suspended or fired.

Unfortunately the only people who can help you at this point are your union reps. I know this sounds like a lame answer but it's really all we can say. What has the union told you about whether you're fired or suspended?

all they keep saying is that the bosses arent telling them anything. which i dont believe. and that just stay calm and it will all work out and i am trying but its easier said than done when your job is on the line and now you feel that your word means nothing. well thanks for your help and if you think of anything that could help please post. and can i sue this guy for slander...

If I were you I wouldn't do anything until the union sorts it out.

OK now i have more problems i think. i don't know if i should of started a new thread but i figured just post it here.
i have been cooperating with the union and company but its getting ridiculous. they had me go to a phycologist for an evaluation and he cleared me and said i could return to work and that i was not a threat to myself or anyone else. but now the company wants me to go through a full psych test and i feel that its going to far. how much do i have to go through to prove that i am innocent of these accusations. isn't this harassment if they are trying to make me go crazy but letting the accuser get away with saying lies and allowing him to continue to work when i still haven't been told if I'm suspended or fired and not getting any pay for over a week now. what can i do...

File a complaint with the NLRB that your union isn't representing you. Explain to the NLRB exactly what has happen.
