What is the name of your state? Michigan

School called today to tell me that 12 yr old son stole a cell phone and $20 while on school event over the weekend. Money was repaid and cell phone returned as it was in sons backpack. Son is suspended from school for 3 days and lost all priviledges at home.

Principal stated that the parent of the child that's cell phone and money was taken may or may not press charges.

I have never dealt with this before.

I am wondering what is likely to happen if the parent presses charges.
