16 Year Old Boy Caught With Child Porn

my 16 year old son was caught with child porn, he has never been in trouble with the law before. This would be first offence, also in his mind he wanted to see porn of people of his own age, not older people doing it. I wanted him to not see porn at all, told him to never do it. But he didnt listen, hes very depressed , feels his life is over. He regreats it very badly, everything i look up seems to say hes life is over. Theres no charges yet, and no arrest, but i feel that will happen soon. What can we do? what can happen? I need help, i love my son. will he go to prision? probation? be a sex offender? (worst fear) like he told the police hes still a virgin, its true, no girlfreind in real life only on net and he stays to him self.
Can someone gives us some hope? thank you for your time

Yes he would be a sex offender if convicted if he is charged with child porn. He would most likely be registering for at least 10 years if not life. He may only get probation or he could spend up to his 21st birthday in DYS. But since it is CHILD PORNOGRAPHY do not look at any prosecutor to make a deal not requiring him to register as a sex offender.

Where did he get such pictures? The fact that he is a juvenile and someone supplied him with child pornography makes them criminals as well.

What you can do is get your child into therapy and have a sexual offender evaluation done and follow the recommendations. What you can do is hire your child an attorney. What you can do is make sure your child does not have access to the internet, cell phones or any other technology at this juncture. Another thing you can do is make sure your child understands that if he is convicted of child pornography he will not work in teaching, education, law, medicine, social work or various other careers. He will be limited as to where he can live and being around children -- even at this point people his own age. Just because he is a child does NOT mean he is not a sex offender. And quite frankly why he wouldn't want to see someone who is legal for porn rather than children is beyond me. His excuse does not make sense and you should not allow him to get by with his behavior because he didn't want to look at "older people doing it" -- especially when the legal age is 2 years older than him. HOW did he get access to ANY porn quite frankly?

all 3 of my children was molested by my ex wifes friend 7 years ago, this man got 5 years in prision. because of that somehow my son see older people having sex as gross. In his mind he only wanted to see people around his age. I know i dont get it either. will this mean he cant live with me anymore because of his 2 other brothers 10 and 14?
I am diasbled and cant offored attorney, so we will have to wait till hes arrested to get one from the courts. Do you think he will get bail at all? What is DYS? he's very honest person, he told the police when question that he downloaded all his porn from bearshare program and e-mule. I trusted him, i shouldnt of never let him have the net, but now its too late

He would likely get bail/bond set. DYS is Department of Youth Services -- basically juvenile prison. Honesty is good but has he EVER gotten treatment after being molested?

yes all 3 boys have had therpy and are on meds, you see while they were being molested by that guy, my ex wife was aslo abusing them. this is why i got them in court 7 years ago. we now share time even with them. right now we have have a order to protection from my ex wifes boyfreind who just choked my son last month. he also did this in 2006 and no charges were on him, but he had to take anger mangement classes and pay a fine, and was in jail for a day. will my son be able to be around his brothers when he gets out of this DYS?
