Our 16-year old son was out with his friends. His plans were to
play PaintBall at a friend's birthday party.

The next thing we know we get a phone call from the police saying
that he was arrested because he was "caught on school grounds with
explosives".

On one hand this could mean that him and his friends were constructing
a bomb, but on the other hand it could simply mean that him and his
friends crossed the school property and they had their paintball guns
with them - obviously a world of difference! And the police won't
tell us anything!

Anyhow, the police say we cannot see or talk to him until Monday (today
is Saturday) until he sees a judge?

Can we not go bail him out?? Or at least go see him?!?

This is very frustrating and we could really use some advice!

What is the name of your state? TX

Where would he have gotten explosives?

What did the school say?....Did you even talk to the principal?

Oh ...wait...you probably went in there with demands and screaming your heads off....Bad move.

First off...a paint ball is considered an explosive.....Why?....Cause even with very little energy put to it, it will EXPLODE!

They are not accusing him of having a bomb.....But an EXPLOSIVE...which he had. A paintball is an explosive!

See him on Monday, Fortunately, when criminals get caught on the weekends....they have to wait till Monday for anything to happen.

Why do people bother to sign up to this site, and take the time to write a long post, only to say, "Can we not go bail him out?? Or at least go see him?!?"

Why do they waste their, and our time, when they have already talked to the people that can answer their question?

Did you think that we were going to tell you that you could bail him out?

I cannot imagine that a paintball or paintball gun would be remotely considered an explosive, so I'm gonna guess that there is something more serious that they were playing with.

All the police have to tell you is that he has been arrested. In most states they also have to tell you the charges, but I can't say for sure that this is the case in TX. I would recommend you contact an attorney ASAP as this is likely a very serious offense he is charged with.

And juveniles are not permitted bail - he'll have to see a judge if the juvenile hall will not release him to you.

My response:

I thought you said you were going to sleep? Hang your "Sam Brown" on the bedpost, and curl up with the wifey-poo, Carl. Remember to take your pants and Jack Boots off.

IAAL, I would appreciate it if you would stop posting any responses to my thread.
You and I are obviously not on the same page and you seem to be ruining my
thread.

I posted the very real facts and am looking for someone that knows some very real answers. And I'm old enough to know that things aren't always as they seem.

If there is anyone with actual experience in this matter then I would appreciate
some direction.

Thank you!

My response:

Tough crap!

Why don't you answer some of our questions, instead of just writing the above bull.

Where would he have gotten explosives?

My Kid Broke Into a Government Building! Help!

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

We live in Texas.

Help! My kid broke into a government building (a school).
The police knew he did it over the week-end, but they
waited until he was at school to "arrest" him and 6 other
kids.

They aren't technicaly being "arrested" because he is
only 15, but they say it is "like he is being arrested".
They won't let me or my wife talk to him and are giving
us the run-around as to where exactly he is.

What are our rights here? He is apparentl being questioned
by the police without any PARENT or LAWYER around. I don't
want him to get into any more trouble than he already is
and I certainly don't want him alone with the authorities.
He is still young and impressionable.

Please help! What are our rights? Can't we demand to
see him? We are told we can't see or talk to him until
he has been "processed" which will take another 10 hours.

Please help!

Thank you so much!

Get yourself and your son in therapy! This is rediculous. What the heck do you do to put him on the right path? It appears to be nothing.

Again, if there is an experienced legal person that might tell us
if there is a way for us to see our son before Monday this would
be appreciated. We are looking for Legal advice - when we are
ready to seek moral advice we won't be asking on a Legal
forum.

Thanks!

No there is not. I told you what to do. How do you expect strangers on the internet to know why you can't see your son? DO you want us to call the jail and ask?

2 attorney's have responded to you already. Last year your little darling got himself into similar trouble as posted by Shay, https://forum.freeadvice.com/showthread.php?t=268424 wherein you stated.

so that means the 6 other little felons are a beter influence than the police? WHat was the outcome of last year's crime spree and why does he continually pick schools as the location of his crimes? Why would you allow him access to any type of gun, since it is obvious you cannot trust him? Is he on probation of some sort?

How can a paintball gun become an explosive? Ever heard of a CO2 Cartridge? Take than and a few matches and Boom! you have a bomb.
