Other things you need to think about. Do you have to money to support yourself, rent, food, health care, car insurance, gas, clothes, entertaiment. While still in high school do you have have a job, because I don't think a part time job will be enough to live off. What is the reason you want to move out? |

| The legal question before this forum is can a child leave home at the age of 18 in the state of California or must they wait until they graduate from High School, even if they have attained the age of 18. And, the legal answer is, emancipation occurs at the age of 18 or before with a court order.

| Additionally, keep in mind that CA state law requires you remain in school or enroll in an alternative education program (or complete your GED) even though you turn 18. Failure to remain in school can result in a misdemeanor charge against you. - Carl

| LOL Hope she realizes the ramifications. Dude - if you think you're old enough to move out of your parents' home, you should be old enough to provide for yourself. Not rely on a friend's Mommy instead of your own. That's rather pathetic.

| And there IS the matter of money ... and transportation ... and how about going to the doctor? Can you pay for your own doctor bills? Do you have ANY idea what a visit to the doctor or the dentist actually costs without the co-pay? It's a really cool dream to be out on your own. But .. oh ... you won't really be out on your own - you'll be with a friend's mom. And you think she won't have some rules or expect you to contribute? Or is she just going to put you up for free? I think reality is going to slap you hard in the face. - Carl
