What is the name of your state? PA I live in laureldale pa,does there curfew of 9:00 pm override her right to drive untill 11:00 pm as her license states she may?,

Look at it this way.

She has permission to drive until 11 pm if she is allowed to do so by any other controlling authority.

In your thoughts, her state allowed permission (not a right) would over ride Mom telling her to be home by 10 pm. Doesn't make much sense when you really think about it does it?

curfew

so if she leaves my parents house at 9:00 and drives thru the "wrong town" she could be breaking law without knowledge, what kind of system is that?

Curfew laws are in place to keep the "wrong" kids off the streets. Also, an officer can't make a stop simply because they think the driver is too young to be out. If they pull her over for, say, speeding, and look at her license to discover she is too young, THEN she may be issued that citation. If she explains, however, that she doesn't live in that town (her DL should confirm that) and that she is merely driving through to get home, such a citation will usually not be written, and if it is can be easily have thrown out.

It's just what we have, that's all.

It would be prudent to find out curfew laws in areas that may be of concern. Some of them have rules that allow curfew violations with certain "permission slips" from the parents. Others tend to overlook violations from out of area kids with a reasonable story (coming home from sporting events and such).

As The occultist posted, the reason for the curfew laws is to maintain control over an area. If you child is not breaking the rules, they should be safe.

A good citizen is an informed citizen. Be informed.
