Emancipation WVWhat is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? West Virginia I work with a 16 year old girl who is the mother of twins. Her mother has kicked her out of the home. She has been looking into emancipation but my question is should she report her mother for neglect? If she decides on emanciapation, can she file paper work herself without being represented by a lawyer? If so where do you get this paperwork? |

| The chances that a 16 year old who already has two children will be emancipated are somewhere between slim and none, and slim just left town. If you REALLY want to be of help to her (and are not just looking for the answer you want to hear) you would be of much more help to her by calling CPS and informing them that she's been kicked out of the house, than you would be encouraging her in the absurd idea that the state would consider that a 16 year old with two children is capable of self-support and mature enough to make appropriate decisions. |
