Fake ID

My friend has an ID that he recieved from a mutual older friend of ours. He tried to use it to get into a bar, and the guy said that it wasn't him. My friend just ended up walking away and the guy at the door kept the ID. Is it likely that my friend will get caught and prosecuted? Do they dust it for fingerprints or anything like that?

Any help would be great!
