My 19 yr old step-niece is/was having problems with here 2 month old son's father. They are not married. She had him taken away from her and placed into foster care by DCFS. I spoke to the investigator and they were looking for family to foster him. I told her that I wanted to take care of him. They never responded so I went to court with my niece. He was taken away for approx. a year. They have the next court date set for August. They won't let any of us see him. They won't let me have him because I am her step-aunt. I have been married into the family for 35 years. My niece's grandfather I call and consider my father. He has raised me since I was 3 years old. Why does that not matter. What can I do?

What is the exact reason for the removal of the child?
