What is the name of your state? Georgia

My 17 year old son was charged as an adult with felony theft by taking. I just recieved a letter in the mail addressed to "The Parents of.." stating that the company he worked at and is accused of stealing from was going to be taking me to court to recover the damages (or possibly twice as much as the damages - it's not real clear). First question is - am I moniterily liable for these damages? The second question is does the fact that he is being tried as an adult release me from liability? And finally - doesn't he have to be found guilty of the crime to be held financially responsible for these damages?
