What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? South Carolina.

Have a 17 year old son that has taken the turn for the worst He had changed from a public school to a Christian school at his request at the beginning of the school year, star football player on their team. Got in some trouble and kicked out. He enrolled back in his old high school were he could not partake in any sports the rest of the year. He has gone from jumping out the window and running the streets to smoking pot and maybe other things to telling us he will do what he wants. Us trying to intervene has not worked. we have seen a doctor and he will not show up any more to the sessions. He is now leaving for week or more at a time. We can not control him. We have tried everything except committing him to have him evaluated and we have started the paperwork on that. The big question is that he will not come home and is staying with other people, what are the laws governing my responsiblites as a parent. What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)?
