At age 16 I worked for a federal agency that required me to be fingerprinted to work there and sent the fingerprints to the FBI for checks. Were the prints removed from their records automatically after I ended employment there or after I turned 18? I have a clean record.

No. Your fingerprints are permanent.. unless you get a court order for them to be purged.
