After being endlessly harassed for several weeks, our son (age 16) approached the kid that was harassing him, was taunted by the other kid, and our son shoved him. The kid had our son arrested and he was charged with "delinquency or unruliness".

Our son was involved in an incident last year, at a different school, where he was being picked on by other kids. One of them threatened him, so he threatened back, but only our son's threat was overheard by a teacher in the hallway. Our son was charged with "menacing" by the other student's parent.

My basic question is, is this worth hiring a lawyer, or should we appear in court, plead guilty, and accept the punishment?

Thank you,

Doug Leighton
