Mandated reporting

What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? Massachusetts
I have a question that a friend and I were debating.
If I am a mandated reporter and I am AWAY from work and I see child, elder, etc. abuse or someone threatens to hurt themselves am I MANDATED to report it?
I say I am but she says it's only when you are at work.
