Out of Court Settlement for injuries

TN. I am a single Mother of a 15 years old Son who was provoked by a classmate in School and he was involved in a fight with result of minor injuries to his classmate. His Dad wants us to pay his Hospital bill ( $750.00) and to go to Moral Combat Class. I think my Son, according to witnesses, just reacted to a provocation, but I am billing to pay the Hospital Bill. Any ideas of Settlement Letter that I might request his Dad to sign? I don't want to be object of periodic requests of more conditions. I don't think provocation would be a legitimate defense to assault or battery.
