Pulled over with only a permit

Hello, On 10/31/09 at around 1:00am I was pulled over with a couple of friends in the vehicle. We were headed home and I decided to take back roads. I was going 40mph in a 35mph at the time when i see a vehicle right behind me on my tail, at that moment i didn't speed up or anything just continued with my driving, I kept checking to see if the car had backed off or anything but it hadn't, by that time i was kinda frustrated so i push the pedal and got to about 55mph and then let off and start getting on the brakes to get back to the speed limit when i see the car start coming up on me again. At that time i was at a red light and i was taking a right i didn't come to a complete stop but i DID check both ways and it was clear (Its 1:00 in the morning not a lot of cars on back roads) then i check my rear view mirror to see flashing lights. I pull over and he comes out asks for my license. I tell him that i do not have one but i do have a permit (I have been able to get my license for awhile now but have not done so because insurance is high at the moment and with me on insurance as being only 17 years old it would increase even more) also only one parent works at the moment dad got laid off a couple months ago. I live in Charlotte, North Carolina. Thanks to who ever reads this and can offer some help. If any other information is need please ask. I just need some help. Thanks again. Also wanted to add that i have a court date set for December 28th. I was ticketed for being in violation of my limited learners permit.

Did you have a question?

What are the possible things that could happen? (permit revoked, not able to get license until a certain age, fines, would i have to take any DD classes). I am just wondering since i only got ticketed with being in violation of my limited learners permit? Thanks

You were lucky, they could have written you up for the criminal driving without a license charge. You are banned from going for your real license for at least six months from this infraction. If I were your parents, I'd pull your permit as well.

Advice for the future: something my dad taught me is never break more than one law at a time.
