What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? Ca
During a pending restraining order, are there any restrictions as far as contact between the two parties if the restraining order is regarding a nonviolent crime? Also, are both parties (the person filing for a restraining order and the person its against) notified when a restraining order is either granted or denied? Same for a temp. Restraining order? How long does it take for an RO to be granted or denied?

When a party petitions (submits an affidavit and request to the court) for a civil harassment or domestic violence restraining order, a judge reviews it. If judge finds there to be sufficient cause to issue the temporary order, he or she will do so. If the petition is denied the restrained party is not generally notified of the attempt.

If the order is granted a copy will be served upon the restrained party and it should contain all the restrictions. This is most often a stay away and no contact order, but can include exceptions for things like child custody exchange, work contact, etc. (depending on the circumstances). The copy served to the restrained party should also have the court date listed. This is usually about 4 weeks out but this can vary depending on jurisdiction.

OP, why did you delete your thread from a few days ago?
Because she was hoping for a different answer if no one knew that her father was the one that requested the restraining order to keep her from the boyfriend with whom she smokes speed.

And, and the boyfriend whom violated his probation to violate the LAST restraining order.

Apparently, she figured it would bias us. I know it biased me.

Sheesh. It's a shame that people don't appreciate the volunteers here.

It's also a shame that they are silly enough to think that if they fail to provide relevant data that the answer they get is worth anything.
