What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? MARYLAND
I have a 19yo son who began dating a 14yo girl. She told him that she was 17yo. To make a long story short, they had sex and after her 15th birthday (we thought 18) we find out that she's pregnant. After she gets pregnant she informs him that she's only 15 and that if he don't marry her she will have him arrested for statutory rape. Does anyone know of cases such as this where the female has lied? Does this help in the boy's defense? Does anyone know the average sentence for statutory rape in Maryland?

The age of consent in Maryland is 16. So yes, your son is guilty. No, saying she lied is not a viable defense. Ignorance of law, or belief of a lie, is not a defense to statutory rape.. in all seriousness, your son should have asked for ID to verify age.

If she pursues this, your son could be charged with felony sexual solicitation of a minor under statute 3-324 of Maryland law, which is punishable by 10 years in prison, a fine of $25,000, or both.
