What is the name of your state? Canada, but happened in Sand Point Idaho

While on vacation my family stayed at a very nice hotel in Idaho, our room was broken into and so was 3 other guests. Travlers checks and all money were stolen. Can the hotel be held liable for this? I have all police reports and would like to know if I have a case.
