Hi, My husband and I having a problem. we live in phoenix az .We are looking to get into
a bigger place. we are just not sure to move yet. our
lease is up at end of november.
we looked around and found a nice place a little bigger extra
bedroom and garage for
not much more. problem is we are not sure if we will qualify
and don't want to be stuck scrambling for a place to live.
so we filled an application anyways to see if we qualify.
if we did qualify then we could 1 day to decide if we want to move there or not or just sign a 6month lease again here.
. but problem is
our potential landlord called our current landlord and our
current landlord won't give any inforamation about us to the potential landlord ,
until we give our 30 days notice. Is this legal??
the potential landlord says she is in a stand still and can't continue to process application. until she gets info from our current residence..
help!! thanks so much..

There is no law requiring a current landlord to communicate with a prospective landlord with respect to a reference check etc.
The information and communication between landlords and property managers are done as a courtesy and following general business standards.
