Evicting Adult Child

What is the name of your state? Alabama

I have begun to make arrangements to evict my lazy disrespectful 20 year old daughter. My preparations include compiling all her personal documents, i.e., birth and shot records, etc. Also I will be coordinating with local law enforcement as required to ensure her uneventful departure. Would you recommend I file an unlawful detainer complaint to give this eviction "teeth"? Lastly, what else would you recommend I do to legally close off any "loose ends" and effectively terminate our relationship to include a restraint from further contact? Also, I would welcome any thoughts you have pertaining to social services I can direct my daughter to. Thank you.

Make copies of her birth and shot records in case her laziness also includes the ability to lose things.

Do not bother to coordinate with local law enforcement unless you are doing a formal eviction. Follow the landlord/tenant laws in your state for providing her wirtten notice (ususally 30 days) and then then filing eviction proceedings with the court.

The best start for terminating your relationship would be to say "don't call me again until you get your s*** together". Then if she repeatedly contacts you, you can either hang up or get a restraining order for her harassment. Be prepared to tell the judge why you cannot just hang up on her when he asks.
