TO MAKE A LONG STORY SHORT I MOVED IN TO A GUEST HOUSE 5 MONTHS AGO ON A MONTH TO MONTH CONTRACT. I WAS SUBLEASING FROM A LADY WHO TOOK A $1000 DEPOSIT. 5 MONTHS LATER SHE INFORMED ME THAT THE OWNER OF THE PROPERTY WAS SUDDENLY GOING TO GIVE THE HOUSE TO HER KIDS(WHICH WE LATER FOUND OUT WAS A LIE).
SHE TOLD ME AROUND AUGUST 12TH AND SAID I NEEDED TO BE OUT BY SEPTEMBER 5TH. HER REASON FOR THE SHORT NOTICE WAS THAT SHE HAD RECIEVED THE LETTER TO VACATE ONE WEEK PRIOR AND WAS GOING TO TRY TO TALK THE OWNER OUT OF GIVING THE HOUSE AWAY BEFORE TELLING ME. WELL THAT DID NOT HAPPEN SO SHE TOLD ME THAT I ONLY HAD TILL THE SEPTEMBER 1ST.
THE MORNING OF THE 1ST I WENT TO RETRIEVE MY FINAL BELONGINGS TO FIND THEM OUT ON MY DRIVEWAY. I WAS NEVER ABLE TO GO BACK INTO MY HOUSE AFTER THAT. SHE DID NOT HAVE PERMISSION TO ENTER OR A KEY ( I THOUGHT).
SO SHE KEPT ALL OF MY DEPOSIT EXCEPT FOR $400. KEEP IN MIND I ONLY LIVED THERE 5 MONTHS AND SHE KEPT THE REST. SHE SENT ME A LETTER WITH SOME SORT OF MADE UP INVOICE WITH NO RECIEPTS WHAT SO EVER.
I WANT TO SUE FOR $4700 THE AMMONUT $4680 $500 SECURITY DEPOSIT I UNDERSTAND $200 IN CHARGES BUT NOT $700, $180 MY LEGAL FEES, AND $2000 PER EACH VIOLATION MADE BY THE LANDLORD. 1. NO 30 DAY WRITTEN NOTICE 2. NO SECURITY DEPOSIT RETURNED AND THERE IS A 3RD. ILLEGALLY ENTERING AND MOVING OUT MY PERSONAL BELONGINGS WITH NO APPROVASL OR NOTICE TO ME. I DO NOT KNOW WHAT 2 POINTS ARE THE STRONGEST AND WOULD HOLD UP BEST IN COURT. PLEASE HELP!!!! :confused:
