What is the name of your state? What is the name of your state? California

i just signed a lease and paid the security deposit plus first month's rent. however, when we got the keys and walked into the house, the premises was not as we were promised. the walls were not repainted nor touched up. there were daddy long legs in every upper edge of the walls/ceiling in every room. they had bought blinds to install which weren't installed and left in its original box placed next to the windows/sliding doors. i can't even tell if the carpet had been cleaned. We called the LL and they were sending out maintenance, but they came at a random time, when no one was present, so we couldn't point out the problems.

If this is how they manage their property and its only the first week, we don't want to put up with them for a whole year. Is there any way we could terminate the lease and still get our money back? Or at lease have our rent prorated until the house is in move-in condition? We don't have a copy of the executed lease yet.

Yep. Simply get the landlords permission in writing that he will waive your lease obligation and refund your money.

That sounds reasonable.... talk with your landlord.
