Landlord witheld $280.00 for painting and $70.00 for carpet cleaning. I lived in this apartment for 2 years and 8 months. The rental agreement states two years of stay I have to pay 1/3 of painting and three years of stay none. To my knowledge he can't charge me for painting according to california law because I have lived there for more than two years no matter what the rental agreement says. Am i correct? Do I have a change of getting that money back? Thank you so much for your help.
