| | | | landlord/tenant What is the name of your state? Georgia
We are a small church who recently went through some difficult times and were unable to pay our rent. Instead of just getting behind our landlord told us we couldn't get out of the lease but he did say he would make us a deal if we would make payments on half of the remaining balance and made us sign a note stating such. Afterward we found out that if he rents the building we should be able to get out is this true and if so what should we do? The building was leased before we moved out to himself |

| | | Rev you have a commercial lease none of the usual landlord tenant laws apply If you really dont want to move negotiate what you can . If you do move your LL can file suit and ask for the rent that is owed for every month the place sits vacant , If it takes 6 months to find a new commercial tenant you will owe for those 6 months . |

| | | | Doesnt your Lord speak to you about sacrificing for him?
Why should you be treated any differently then anyone else who rents the space, your church made a deal your church members should pass the collection plate again, and again and agaain, until its paid off.
So he is getting 1/2 rent from you, is he marketing/advetising the building? |

| | | | We already moved and the building has already leased. It leased immediately. I was not sure about the note that he made us sign is it binding even though the building was being renovated for the next tenant before we were entirely out |

| | | | I don't mind at all paying a debt that is mine to pay. I am wandering if it is legally mine to pay if he has already leased the building. |

| | | Rev if there is a new tenant now working on the space you should have no problem proving that your off the hook so you should only have to pay just what you owe in back rent . | |
