I received a notice to appear in court due to eviction two days after I paid my rent. I didn't pay the late fees when I sent in my payment. I know I won't have to appear in court if I pay the landlord's lawyer fees and court fees by the date of appearance. Do I have to pay either if I paid my rent PRIOR TO NOTICE? I'm not asking if I have to go to court. I want to know if I'm obligated to pay the fees. I'm in NJ.

You are obligated to pay the amount they ask for, If they ask for legal fees and late fess...pay it!

If you have a problem with that... then thats what a judge is for!

Make sure you get a signed release and a reciept!
