What is the name of your state? Kansas

hi , i am currently staying in overland park ,kansas.I had taken up a lease of 6 months in from 1 Feb -31 July.

On 22nd June i signed another lease for renewal stating from 1 AUG 2005-31 Jan 2005.At that time my landlord told me that i can cancel this lease anytime before 1 AUG.Accordingly i had given a written notice on 28th June (More than a month ago) to landlord that i'll be vacating the apartment.

but now the landlord is saying that i'll have to pay lease breakage fee as i have already signed the lease.
please advice ..if you have faced a similar problem before.what should i do.

**A: check again; does your lease expire Jan 2006?

**A: if you have nothing in writing allowing you to break your lease, then you have nothing to support your claim.
