lease issue

What is the name of your state? illinois
I have been renting the house since July last year. The landlord and I signed a lease stateing the I will have first option to buy house, house will not be sold until one year. I have the land lord $800earnest money that is what is stated in lease(I also have a signed copy of reciept to that being the case) I have all of my money order recipets paying the rent. I have to hand deliever the rent, for I dont know where my landlord lives. I contact through email, or at there work. I was approached by my landlord in Jan stateing that she and her husband were haveing marital difficulty and could I buy the house sooner. I said I would try, I have been working to pay off debit of our credit so we can qualify for a loan. We most likely will not beable to buy until june or july. I also have never been given an copy of our signed lease, but I have saved all the emails to my landlord stateing that I need a copy of the lease and her reply of next time I come in and pay rent I can have one. My question is am I ok without a copy of my lease and what should I do about the purchasing of the house. She gave us a year due to our credit situation. What are my options? We want to buy the house and and I dont want to loose it?
