Lease and restraing order

What is the name of your state? Florida

There had been alot of ongoing animosity between a room mate and I . We share a room in a two bedroom townhouse that we are renting with one other person. It is a one year lease. Last weekend, she attacked me and I had a police report done. I went to have a restraining order done however they told me for that to be done there would have had to have been more than one act of violence. Well this past week, she hit me in a public place. SO i'm going today to do a restraining order. I've already moved out of the townhouse and back in with my mom but i do nto want to continue to have to pay rent there. Is a restraining order means to be removed from the lease?

Cool

NO - talk to your landlord and other roommate.

I believe what you are thinking of is an exemption from penalties for breaking a lease that may be granted to victims of domestic violence. This does not apply to you for several reasons. It applies only to a single or couple on a lease, not to roommate situations. And because this woman is your roomate and not your "partner/significant other", the assault on you is just that - an assualt, not domestic violence. You need to clear up this situation with your roommates and your LL as Cvillecpm has said.
