Mold ANE MILDEW

What is the name of your state? What is the name of your state? Tennessee
We move into our house on August 1, 2004 and we paid rent on time $350.00
a month, we thought the house was nice we never complained until September 20, 2004: My mom wanted him to bring a new tub because the one we had was old without a stopper. He sent two men over to fix the tub but they had brought a tub from some strange place that they had painted and didnt put none of the screws in so the tub was just there. I called the landlord told him that they didnt put the tub in, he said I will call them and tell them to get over there right away. They brought a new tub after being without a tub for at least nine days. He offered to give us $50.00 off that next months rent but he still sent us a late payment reminder in the mail saying that we were short $50.00 last month. January 15, 2005: It was cold in my room but I never cut on my heater because my mother was complaining about there being a gas leak in the house. I notice that my walls were sweating (my heater was off) and there was mold up my wall so I called my landlord and he never answered my phone call. So I decided that to call Code Enforcement January 30, 2005. He called us a said that he was sending a person over the next day. That next day was February 2, 2005. The man came and all he did was wipe my wall off and paint over it with paint. I called the landlord and I told him what the man did but he never returned my phone call. So we moved out on April 2, 2005 but now he is trying to sue us for rent and a money to fix the rest of the house up $850.00. My question is FOR WHAT AND WHY ARE YOU SUING US? Please help we need advice.

first, none of us here are you landlord.

and second, you said yourself he is suing you for rent and for damages, probably because you failed to give proper notice to the LL (as spelled out in your lease and in your state law).

what does your lease say about notice of termination?

Oy you have many problems... contacting us is one of those.
If you have mold ( I do NOT do Mold) then contact your local county housing authority...

Unless the code enforcement found gas leaks and mold issues , and you can obtain a report , your pretty much stuck .

Look up your LL tenant laws to see if proper procedures were followed about security deposits and damage notices to you and your response if any , and obtain any code enforcement report(s) .

See if you have a leg to stand on . Obviously your outta there , so you can not recall code enforcement now . You might be able to get the Court to give you an adjustment , over the lack of tub use , and any violations that you find ( prove) , if they were severe enough .
