CA. Was going to move into a place in Nortern Calif. Signed rental lease already. Gave deposit. Discovered on another visit, we have not moved in yet, mold in the closet, drawers, cabinets, etc. Spores. We were not told of this. We signed a mold addendum that the house had had previous mold issues long ago. In addition, sewage or sludge deposits are present on the side of the house where the windows cannot be opened because of the smell. The mold is there. Is there anything we can do? We requested our money back but the landlord is refusing to refund our money. What can we do in this situation? Thanks.

First, have you put your complaint in writing (certified RRR) and asked for the landlord to either provide a SAFE house or to refund your deposit and terminate you lease, giving him 10 days to do so??
If not, why not??
