NY - What is time frame for returning sec dep

NEW YORK - How long does a landlord have before returning security deposit?

I tried to investigate this question but found no real clear answers. One site said in a resonable amount of time.

Does anyone have any real information on what is allowed by law.

Thank You

It has to be postmarked within 30 days from the end of the rental period.

So if you move out today, and the rent is due on March 1st, the landlord has until March 31st to mail it.
