If the house is old enough to have hardwood flooring ? If so insist that the carpet be pulled up and removed from the unit ( take pictures of it ) then send LL a letter get a certificate of mailing at the least. OR send it registered . Since at least the wood floors would be easier to take care of , And you could just go buy area sized rugs that you will own and be able to take with you when you move out . See if the LL would be ok with that route if there are Hardwood floors . If not then read through your state statutes ( in your state govt web page ) and lease and see if you can Prove that your lease is being breached and search using this websites search tab searching on breach and lease and read through some of the other postings and decide how you want to approach this . And remember have some patience . Now I need to go sharpen the corn scythe and get ready for sundown

carpet

Thanks farmer, we already thought of that. In fact we did pull it up in the bedrooms ( we again had permission) and now have nice hardwood floors there. the prob is living room and dining room. someone was goofy enough to put lineoleum ( forgive my spelling) over top of the floors in those rooms. people amaze me sometimes. who would want that in the living room
