Accusations that I stole personal belongings
What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? Ohio
Hello,
I own a house in Medina County, Ohio. I was letting a friend stay with me because she no longer wanted to live with her mother. No paperwork was ever signed stating that she would live with me. She never paid me anything to live there either and eventually had her boyfriend coming and going from the house. He stayed from time to time as well.
We had a verbal altercation and she packed up her clothers and left one evening the end of September. I have been getting threatening e-mails and text messages telling me that I stole personal property from them and they want to come pick it up. I just bought my house in January of 2011 (my first home) and everything that is in my house is 100% mine.
I'm not sure how to go about handling this. I have told her that I do not have any belongings of hers but she continues to tell me I do. She said I need to give her a time and date that she can come pick up her things and that she will have the local police department escort her.
I'm not sure what I need to do. Am I protected? Or can she enter my house and just point to things she wants, claiming they belong to her?
Any advice would be well received. Thank you!
