| | | Problem with the people downstairs What is the name of your state? KY
Last week we had some new people move in downstairs that smoke like a chimney. The insulation in the apartment complex is horrible and therefore we end up with stench in our apartment. Does my landlord have any responsibility to remedy this problem? |

| | | Nathan try this approach , send your LL a written letter and keep copy for your self in letter tell the LL that there seems to be a problem with smoke infiltration from unit below you and in letter ask your LL if he would consider using plastic sealants to seal light fixtures bellow you since they could be a route for the smoke smell . By dropping them and sealing with a removable caulk the holes in the electrical boxes and then re hanging the fixtures , It might be a way to reduce the smell . there is a chance your LL wont do a thing . When you send it send it with a certificate of mailing so you have proof of mailing it . like i said there is no promise that this will get him to address it . If your LL doesnt do anything then consider carefully reviewing your lease and making sure that you provide ample notice that you have no intention of staying after last day of lease and MOVE . | |
